【摘要】:Residentialductsystemsareoftenfielddesignedandassembled.Therearemanyjoints,oftenofdissimilarmaterialsthatrequirebothmechanicalconnectionandairsealing.Withoutthissealing,ductsystemswouldbeextremelyleakyandhenceinefficient.Whilesomeductsealantsareratedontheirpropertiesatthetimeofmanufactureorduringstorage,noneoftheseratingsadequatelyaddressesthein-servicelifetime.Thistestmethodhasbeendevelopedtoaddressthisdurabilityissue.Thisstandardappliestoproductswhichlistductsealingasoneoftheiruses.Thisincludesducttape(cloth,metalfoilorplasticbacked),masticsandsprayed/aerosolsealants.Itdoesnotapplytocaulksorplasterpatchesthatarenotintendedtobepermanentductsealingmethods.Thestandardductleaksiteisacollartoplenumconnectionforroundductthatis10to20cm(4to8in.)indiameter.Thisperpendicularconnectionwaschosenbecausealmostallresidentialductsystemshavethistypeofconnectionandinfieldobservationsofductsystems,itisoftenthistypeofconnectionthathassealantfailure.1.1Thistestmethoddescribesanacceleratedagingtestforevaluatingthedurabilityofductsealantsbyexposuretotemperaturesandstaticpressurescharacteristicofresidentialductsystems.1.2Thistestmethodisintendedtoproducearelativemeasureofthedurabilityofductsealants.Thisstandarddoesnotmeasuredurabilityunderspecificconditionsofweatherandbuildingoperationthatmightbeexperiencedbyanindividualbuildingandductsystem.Insteaditevaluatesthesealantmethodunderfixedconditionsthatdonotincludethemanifoldeffectsofinstallationpractice.1.3Thistestmethodonlyaddressessealantsnotmechanicalstrengthoftheconnections.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.ForspecifichazardstatementsseeSection7.
