【摘要】:Thepresenceofoilandgreaseindomesticandindustrialwastewaterisofconcerntothepublicbecauseofitsdeleteriousaestheticeffectanditsimpactonaquaticlife.Regulationsandstandardshavebeenestablishedthatrequiremonitoringofoilandgreaseinwaterandwastewater.Thistestmethodprovidesananalyticalproceduretomeasureoilandgreaseinwaterandwastewater.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoffluorocarbon-extractablesubstancesasanestimationofthecombinedoilandgreaseandthepetroleumhydrocarboncontentsofasampleofwaterorwastewaterintherangefrom0.5to100mg/L.Itistheuser''sresponsibilitytoassumethevalidityofthestandardforuntestedtypesofwater.1.2Thistestmethoddefinesoilandgreaseinwaterandwastewaterasthatmatterwhichisextractableinthetestmethodandmeasuredbyinfraredabsorption.Similarly,thistestmethoddefinespetroleumhydrocarbonsinwaterandwastewaterasthatoilandgreasewhichisnotadsorbedbysilicagelinthetestmethodandthatismeasuredbyinfraredabsorption.1.3Low-boilingorganicmaterialsarelostbyevaporationduringthemanipulativetransfers.However,theseevaporativelossesaregenerallymuchlowerthanthoseexperiencedwithgravimetricproceduresthatrequiresolventevaporationbeforetheresidueisweighed.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
